|Hillingdon CCG is consulting on chronic pain services and pathways in the borough. The current services cover pain of the musculoskeletal origin, as well as other types of pain including neurological, abdominal and pelvic and that experienced by patients living with one or more long term condition. Hillingdon CCG is facing a continuing increase in referrals of patients with chronic pain to secondary care, many of these patients are waiting a long time for their treatment and then continue their treatment there without being given the opportunity to learn how to effectively manage their conditions in a primary or community setting.
Local GPs want to bring pain services into the community, closer to homes and support people to manage their pain more easily.
We believe the benefits of this review of chronic pain services will be:
Improved access to chronic pain support and services
Reduction in demand for care in hospitals
Elimination of duplications in pathways for patients
Best practice models implemented within the service
To help us develop a new community chronic pain service and improve patient care, we are inviting local residents to give us their views about our plans and current chronic pain services in Hillingdon borough.
